US Launches Investigation Into Wuhan Lab
A report surfaced last night with the possible origins of the current coronavirus coming from the Wuhan Virology Lab. The report detailed that China was trying to prove themselves leaders at developing vaccines. In an attempt to get ahead, the lab was developing vaccines for viruses that have not infected humans yet. One of these new viruses was recently found in a bat - this virus came to be known as COVID-19. Somewhere in the process, someone became infected and spread the virus outside of the lab.
This report follows evidence that bats are not sold at the wet market in Wuhan - where China has insisted the virus began. US officials visited the virology lab months before the breakout and complained about security and containment issues. China reportedly did nothing to fix those issues.
"What we do know is we know that this virus originated in Wuhan, China. We know there is the Wuhan Institute of Virology just a handful of miles away from where the wet market was. There is still lots to learn. You should know that the United States government is working diligently to figure it out."
Pompeo made further remarks today about China's secrecy on the matter,
“...we know they’ve not permitted the world’s scientists to go into that laboratory to evaluate what took place there, what’s happening there, what’s happening there even as we speak”
This story is developing.
