NASA announced that they will be launching the first woman, along with the next man to the moon in 2024. They called on several companies to design the new landing system for the team. Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin created a bid in partnership with Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Draper - all well-known companies that have to designed and fabricated aircraft for the U.S. military and NASA. They won the contract with NASA, and so did Elon Musk's Space X "Starship."
Whose designing which components of the system?
Blue Origin is building the legged landing platform. This component will be left at the moon after the mission is complete.
Lockheed Martin is fabricating the vehicle that takes off from the moon to deliver the users back to the shuttle.
Northrop Grumman is creating a cylinder that will provide propulsion to steady and align the landing car before it touches base on the moon.
Draper is creating all of the sensors for flight and landing.
While Blue Origin did win the bid, so did two other companies. It is likely that this will be the fabricated design based on the collaboration between the well-known companies, but it is not official.
