Nearly a week after Sen. Sanders announced the suspension of his Presidential campaign he announced via live stream that he is endorsing former Vice President Joe Biden.
“So today, I am asking all Americans, I’m asking every Democrat, I’m asking every independent, I’m asking a lot of Republicans, to come together in this campaign to support your candidacy, which I endorse,”
This announcement is somewhat shocking based on his harsh faceoffs with the VP during the primary debates, but it has been a customary thing to do for dropouts this election year. Biden now has the endorsement of the entire democratic field and is the presumptive nominee of the democratic party, despite his sexual assault record.
During the live-streamed conversation with Biden, Bernie said:
“We’ve got to make Trump a one-term president and we need you in the White House, so I will do all that I can to see that that happens.”
This morning Biden announced the formation of a policy working group to address policies on issues like the economy, immigration and climate change. In their video chat, Biden praised Sanders, particularly on issues like student debt.
Joe Biden's response:
“If I am the nominee, which it looks like now you just made me, I’m going to need you, not just to win the campaign, but to govern.”
The Biden campaign has taken shape and now we all are looking forward to seeing who Biden picks as his presidential running mate.
